Cable Broadcasting: An Analysis from the Perspective of Political Communication

Cable broadcasting is an important form of broadcasting. It broadcasts audio programs through sound equipment, converts them into electrical signals, and transmits them through wires. By connecting speakers (i.e., loudspeakers) to dedicated wires, various programs broadcasted by the radio station can be received. Cable broadcasting has played an important role in the revolution and construction of rural areas in our country. From the perspective of political communication, this paper uses literature analysis and empirical research methods to take the very important political communication medium in rural society since the founding of the People’s Republic of China—cable broadcasting—as the research object. The analysis of the setting background, development evolution, management system, communication content, and communication characteristics of rural cable broadcasting reveals the process and mode of political communication in rural society since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. In particular, it analyses and investigates rural political communication during the rural cooperative period with cable broadcasting as an important medium, aiming to summarize the main forms and characteristics of rural political communication in China before the reform and opening up and to tentatively think and construct the effective mechanism of rural political communication in China during the transition period.
