The Yan Mountain-Great Wall Transitional Zone is of great archaeological significance. From the perspective of physical geography, it is a transitional zone from the Mongolian Plateau to the North China Plain and the Northeast Plain. In terms of a river basin, it refers to the northern part of the Haihe River Basin, the lower part of the Luanhe River, that is, Yan Mountain-Great Wall southern zone, and the upper reaches of the Luanhe River, Daling River, Xiaoling River, and Liaohe River, that is, Yan Mountain-Great Wall southern zone.
