Ecosystems for Online and Blended Learning to Promote Equity and Excellence
摘要
In the changing landscape of education, ethics, well-being, accessibility, inclusion, equity, quality and lifelong learning are paramount. Leading global organizations such as UNESCO, the OECD and COL are calling for a systemic overhaul of education systems. The future of learning will be characterized by agility, flexibility and greater integration of online and blended learning modalities, which are essential for institutions striving for excellence and competitiveness. Blended learning, where mindset and pedagogy take precedence over technology, requires a redefined quality agenda. It empowers learners to take control of their educational journey, promoting autonomy and self-design. Humanizing classrooms, both physical and virtual, is essential for successful teaching and learning experiences. Today’s policy decisions shape tomorrow’s inclusive and resilient future. Effective implementation of quality measures is key and underscores the importance of a comprehensive understanding of blended learning. Adapting education to diverse interests and needs requires a robust ecosystem that promotes equity and excellence. Drawing on extensive research and previous work such as Ossiannilsson’s “Blended Learning: State of the Nation,” this chapter explains the concept of blended learning, its beneficiaries, and opportunities for adaptation. It argues for an ecosystem that promotes equity and excellence in online and blended learning. This is essential to achieve a future where high quality lifelong learning is accessible to all.
