Faculty Development for Leadership and Management
摘要
Although those involved in the education, training and development of health professionals face many of the challenges that any faculty member in higher education faces, including higher student numbers and increasingly rigorous quality assurance requirements, they carry the additional ‘burden’ of ensuring that the care delivered to patients in their institutions is high quality and, above all, safe. This brings with it a whole new set of responsibilities which require the meaningful engagement of faculty with a wide range of stakeholders working within and across educational and healthcare organizational and professional boundaries. Such a remit requires an extended range of leadership, managerial and administrative abilities, and in this chapter, the authors discuss what these abilities might be and how best they may be developed, based on the available literature and experience in the field.
