Translanguaging in Education: Bridging Linguistic and Cultural Divides
摘要
Translanguaging is a transdisciplinary research approach that uses analytical techniques to examine how language users use their resources to construct meaning and coherence in everyday social exchanges. This chapter explores the principles and strategies surrounding the application of translanguaging within educational contexts, with a specific focus on the pivotal role of teacher education in effectively integrating translanguaging practices. This chapter discusses the principles and strategies for using translanguaging in educational settings, focusing on teacher education's role in integrating translanguaging practices. The chapter describes a project that aims to collaborate with school leaders and educators to implement translanguaging in educational institutions. It addresses two obstacles that hinder the implementation of translanguaging theory: resistance to improving students’ understanding of translanguaging practices and the need for incorporating translanguaging assessment in assessments.
