Quality of Life Questionnaires and Screening Scales for Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy
摘要
With 592 million cases predicted by 2035, type 2 diabetes (T2D) mellitus is predicted to be the pandemic of the twenty-first century. There are now more effects associated with diabetes, with diabetic neuropathy emerging as the most prevalent. A major adverse consequence associated with hyperglycemia is diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). Early identification and treatment are key to treating the disease and avoiding long-term complications. Research experts agree that identifying DPN in its early stages is essential for averting significant effects and impact on quality of life (QoL). QoL is an essential concern in diabetes management and it seems reasonable to screen participants promptly for medical screening. In many different contexts, both patients and healthcare professionals can benefit from accurate and efficient assessment of QoL measures. Early detection and intervention are critical to reduce the expected negative impact of T2D and prediabetes on the modern world. These latter types of diabetes have already begun to attack the body, often irreversibly, so early recognition and treatment of complications is essential for the best possible health outcomes. This chapter further discusses the quality of life questionnaires and screening scales for DPN.
