Pandemic Through the Lived Experiences of Educator and Educated: Becoming ‘Disenchanted’ from the ‘University Life’
摘要
The chapter employs the framework of the capability approach to study ‘university life’ during the pandemic. The framework is utilized to investigate the lived experiences of three students and three teachers using the case study method. The chapter shows that disenchantment from university life has emerged amongst students and teachers during the pandemic. It has drawn them away not only from the functions and processes of the university but also from the university’s life. This has been analysed using the list of freedoms explicitly designed for this study. The chapter concludes with a view that there is a need to understand the disenchantment from university life which can significantly aid in writing a ‘comeback story’ of universities in the post-COVID era.
