Design pedagogy is a systematic approach of teaching in the design field to foster practical skills, creativity, and critical thinking through applying design principles and effective practices. The role of design pedagogy in school children is crucial as it inculcates problem-solving, practical application, adaptability, empathy, and a sense of aesthetics in them, which helps them be well-prepared for their lives and careers. This paper focuses on implementing it through educational games, which have emerged as a powerful tool in modern pedagogy by transforming the traditional education landscape. The approach of educational games in design pedagogy reimagines the classroom as an interactive and dynamic space by captivating the students’ attention and making the learning experience enjoyable. A framework for educational games is proposed using methodology integrating the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) model with three schools of learning theories—behaviourism, cognitivism, and constructivism—to design effective, student-centred educational games for a deep learning experience. This approach of design pedagogy with custom educational games for school children has endured comprehensive research and testing. A mobile application is designed to implement the proposed framework. The positive impact on student’s problem-solving skills, creativity, and engagement affirms the significance and effectiveness of this framework. The key stakeholders are middle and high school children, educators, school curriculum policymakers, and the government. This framework helps bring curriculum, pedagogy, and learning together, enhancing schools’ overall curriculum and preparing students for the future world of design.

摘要
