摘要

Artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies offer a promising avenue for the revitalization of traditional crafts in modern design education. This research paper delves into this transformative intersection, envisioning a harmonious coexistence that serves the dual objectives of craft revitalization and design pedagogy. By bridging the gap between these two domains, the study explores a diverse array of AI applications, ranging from digital simulations to virtual reality and AI-driven design tools. It underscores the advantages of AI, including scalability and accessibility, which surpass conventional teaching methods. Moreover, this paper critically analyzes the broader implications of integrating AI into imparting education toward traditional crafts, emphasizing their potential to foster innovation, preserve cultural heritage, and promote fruitful collaboration between artisans and designers. Recognizing challenges related to technical literacy and the preservation of craft authenticity, the research proposes a pilot workshop/classroom model that employs AI to rejuvenate Indian crafts within design education. Through this pilot, the paper seeks to validate theoretical insights and contribute to the revitalization of cultural heritage, showcasing the tangible impact of AI-infused craft and design education. It offers a comprehensive framework by presenting successful examples, discussing implications, and suggesting practical models for the integration of AI and craft revival within contemporary educational contexts.
