Dynamical Behavior of an SIR Epidemic Model with Holling Type III Treatment Function and Media Control

This study introduces and examines an SIR (susceptible-infected-recovered) epidemic model to investigate the implications of vaccination, media awareness and Holling type III treatment function on the spread of disease dynamics. Utilizing the next-generation matrix approach, we derive the fundamental parameter in epidemiology commonly denoted as the basic reproduction number \((R_0)\) , which holds paramount significance in understanding disease dynamics. Using the normalize forward sensitivity index method, the analysis has focused on sensitivity of \(R_0\) to identify pivotal parameters influencing both the prevalence and potential mitigation of disease spread. Additionally, contour plots have been demonstrated with variations in two parameters to illustrate the impact of changes in treatment rate, vaccination rate, transmission rate and media effect on infected individuals.
