Achieving the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals is an important milestone in the energy revolution. In general, the energy system must undergo a transition from the current reliance on fossil fuels to zero-carbon energy in order to achieve carbon neutrality. The central government clearly calls for “establishing the new before abolishing the old”, and “achieving energy transition under the premise of ensuring social development and economic growth”. Therefore, it is necessary to define the structure of the future zero-carbon energy system, set the ultimate goal of energy transition, and on this basis, chart a transition path and make clear priorities.
