Healing Across Borders: The Surge of Asian Medical Tourists to India

In recent decades, there has been a substantial increase in the number of people traveling to other nations for the purpose of receiving advanced medical treatments. This phenomenon is known as medical tourism, and it has been seeing significant growth. In addition to outlining the advantages of India’s service providers, the chapter examines a wide variety of issues that have the potential to restrict the progress of the medical tourism business. It is necessary for the Indian medical tourism industry to overcome challenges on both the domestic and international levels in order to enhance the quality of healthcare services. The objective of this study is to identify significant trends and their impacts in the domain of medical tourism. This study provides a thorough examination of the main factors that make developing countries like India attractive to international patients seeking medical treatment and eventually identifies these causes. It also takes a look at the patterns that have emerged in the number of international tourists who visited India from Asian countries between the years 2010 and 2022. A total of 26 countries are divided into four physiographic regions: West, East, South, and Southeast Asia. The evidence provided suggests that medical tourism in India has the potential to continue expanding and thriving. This is a result of strategic alliances, targeted marketing initiatives, and ongoing enhancements to healthcare facilities.
