Towards Equipping Youth in Developing Countries with IoT Skills Related to Smart Farming
摘要
Developing countries grapple with significant challenges related to youth unemployment and empowerment. This paper seeks to investigate how IoT technologies can enhance the prospects of youth in developing countries in the domain of smart farming. A systematic literature review is performed that examines 34 research papers from six databases. The thematic analysis reveals the challenges and barriers that impede youth engagement with IoT, ranging from financial constraints and inadequate infrastructure to limited collaboration among stakeholders. Further, the specific IoT technologies and tools that are most relevant and beneficial for smart farming in the context of developing countries are identified. These technologies hold the potential to drive positive change and create opportunities in the field of smart farming. A learning journey is established, providing a roadmap of the most practical and effective way to equip youth with the relevant skills. The study therefore contributes by providing an IoT skills development roadmap for youth in developing countries in the domain of smart farming.
