Microwave Dielectric Resonator Antenna Using Electroceramics- A Perspective

摘要

The present chapter on dielectric resonator antenna (DRAs) using dielectric ceramic will draw the great attention of researcher working in the area of DRAs and ceramic dielectric used in DRAs. The chapter delivered comprehensive note at one place. Present chapter is broadly divided into two sections (i.e., DRA and DRA material). One of the section contains compact description about types of dielectric resonator antennas (DRAs), excitation techniques, modes of excitation, radiation mechanism, bandwidth and gain enhancement techniques as well as new dimension of research i.e., reconfigurable DRAs. The chapter also gives the brief idea about the parameters of ceramic dielectric materials that affecting the performance of the DRAs as well as recent development in DRAs. The other section deals with the discussion about roll of dielectric materials used for DRAs, mechanism of interaction of microwave with ceramic dielectric, parameters that affected the dielectric constant of ceramic material used for DRAs. The section also consists of exhaustive list of commercially available and laboratory synthesized dielectric ceramic as well as recently designed DRAs with commercially available and synthesized ceramic materials. For future investigations, such studies will be useful for understanding the effect on the microwave device performance on the end user side. Also, emphasis should be placed on the low cost production and eco-friendly materials, which can be recycled further, keeping in view the environmental protection aspect. This review might provide a systematic guideline to researchers/readers for design and development of novel DRAs.
