Mononeuritis Multiplex: Vasculitis (Systemic, Nonsystemic) Neuropathies

Vasculitic neuropathy is an immune-mediated and treatable condition that has the potential to result in disability if not diagnosed and treated on time. It can be localized to nerves or be systemic. Asymmetry, weakness, and pain are the key features. High levels of suspicion and investigations such as electrodiagnostic (EDX) study, immune markers, and histopathological examination of nerve-muscle biopsy increase diagnostic yield. Treatment is disease-specific. Cyclophosphamide and corticosteroids are the first line of treatment to induce remission. Other agents are methotrexate, azathioprine, rituximab, immunoglobulin, etc. The prognosis depends on age, immune markers, and systemic involvement.
