Electrophysiology
摘要
An Electrodiagnostic study is important in the evaluation of patients suffering from neuromuscular disorders as it gives insights into the function of the nervous tissue and in this respect, it differs from other tests that depict the anatomy. It is easy to understand that the tests require standardized protocols and attention to detail, to acquire reliable and reproducible readings, which form the basis of interpretation. However, it is often overlooked that the report needs to be customized depending on the field of practice of the referring doctor. The language and terminology used for a hand surgeon would differ from that used for a neurologist. Hence the physician performing and reporting these tests must be well versed in electrodiagnostic medicine.
