Harnessing Intelligent Cyber-Physical Systems for Advanced Healthcare Delivery: A Scoping Review and Future Directions

Intelligent cyber-physical systems in healthcare are used to describe an intense integration networking of medical equipment and devices in virtual and physical forms. The systems are used with an emerging technological advanced technique, for health issues and parameters that are acquired and processed via advanced machine intelligence algorithms which can be taking place in the cloud thereby improving quality healthcare. In other words, the intelligent cyber-physical systems in healthcare can refer to any computer-controlled equipment used for the medical and health arena. The goal of this Chapter is to demonstrate the importance and benefits of intelligent cyber-physical systems in healthcare service for a very high-quality delivery to the patients and care givers. The Chapter employed a scoping review on the meaning, use, importance and benefits intelligent cyber-physical systems in healthcare for possible knowledge and applications across the globe. The chapter have identified importance, use and benefits of ICPS to include accountability of healthcare service, adequate and monitored coordination of healthcare, aiding remote patient monitoring, comprehensive healthcare packages, continuity in healthcare provision, disease Surveillance and outbreak prediction, efficient dimension in healthcare service delivery, enhancement of vaccination programs, persons and patients-centered services, quality improvement approach to healthcare, Security detection on healthcare cyber-attacks, universal accessibility of care including remote areas, wide coverage in healthcare. Despite the fact that this study has produced, identified and categorized numerous importance, use and benefits of intelligent cyber-physical systems in healthcare, global pandemic emphasizes the need for global healthcare reform to face the rising problems of modern-day ailments.
