Nuclear Utilization

In this chapter, we first discuss nuclear science, which is the foundation of nuclear utilization. Then, we discuss the use of radiation, another field of nuclear utilization alongside energy use. We look back at the history of human energy use and discuss energy self-sufficiency and energy security. We discuss the economics of various power generation methods and examine the relationship between economic liberalization, power liberalization, investment in new power generation facilities, and stable power supply. Furthermore, we introduce the history and current status of nuclear energy use in the world, the development of power reactors, the continuous safety improvement activities in the power industry, the improvement of nuclear regulations in the United States, the new construction of nuclear power plants, nuclear power technology from the history of innovation, and computer-aided design, construction, and maintenance technology.
