COVID-19 outbreak contribute to the rising volume of biomedical waste which is harmful to both human health and the environment. There was a dramatic increase in Biomedical Waste (BMW) production in tandem with the global COVID-19 case count, which affecting global population well-being, as well as environmental health and safety. There are many alternative ways for recycling or lowering biological waste have been introduce to control BMW to environment. But yet, limited understanding on the possible mitigation worldwide to reduce burden of biological waste during this pandemic era. This article highlights the sustainability, global challenges, and solutions from the previous studies in mitigating the environmental problems from biomedical and pharmaceutical sectors.
