Long-Term Mechanical Ventilation: Respiratory Therapist’s Point of View

This chapter gives a summary of the approach of one pediatric long-term ventilation program based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It includes a hospital approach for pediatric patients newly initiated on invasive mechanical ventilation, noninvasive ventilation, and mechanical in-exsufflation. Also discussed is optimizing ventilation through download interpretation, outpatient clinical management, and remote and virtual care offerings.
