Unravelling Routines: Interruptions of Life Caused by Covid-19
摘要
Covid-19 created ructions in the lives of people. This chapter explores these disruptions in various domains: daily routines, physical health, economic activity, social interactions, and psychological well-being. The impact of the pandemic was amplified by demographic factors such as age, gender, and living arrangements, with detailed narratives highlighting the consequences on activities once taken for granted, such as neighbourhood walks and visiting loved ones. The closure of places of worship particularly affected women, removing a vital source of support. The struggles to manage the everyday rhythms of life in the context of lockdowns, restrictions, and shortages were recounted. Separation from loved ones and concern about the welfare of friends and family were poignantly depicted in the stories.
