摘要

This book is drawn from detailed interviews of eighteen diverse urban-dwelling older adults from India. This chapter introduces the participants, illustrating the various ways in which they described themselves, along with the chronologically restoried narratives of four unique individuals. We have used the restories developed from the interviews to introduce the participants to the reader. Our participants were men and women in the age group of 60–78 years. Some of our participants were married and lived with family, while others were widowed or never married. The experiences of people with disability have been captured, along with those of people separated from families and compelled to live alone. Glimpses into the lives of Kannan, Sister Alice, Seetha, and Rattan (All names used are pseudonyms to protect the identity of the participants.) during the pandemic are presented in the restories.
