Methodology—Doing Narrative Research with Older Adults in India During the Pandemic

This chapter details the methods used to collect data and analyse the stories of living through the Covid-19 pandemic shared by older adults in India. Additionally, we examine our stance reflexively, while conducting the research. Eighteen older adults (60–78 years of age) were interviewed from different parts of the country. Participants (9 men and 9 women) were mostly married and living with their spouse or family with a few single and widowed participants, some living alone and one nun residing in a convent. Narrative and in-depth interviews were carried out with a follow-up interview to inquire about older adults’ perspective on vaccinations. The data was analysed by restorying each participant’s narratives in chronological order and by culling out themes in the narratives.
