In the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), wireless sensor networks gained popularity for various operations like monitoring and controlling industrial processes. However, the sensitive data of the sensors are exposed to the risk of theft and cyber-attacks. For securing the IIoT over the wireless sensor network there needs to be an efficient mechanism for authentication of the devices. In our research, we found the complex authentication mechanisms are proposed by many researchers. Our findings are the review of “WSNEAP: an efficient authentication Protocol for the IIoT-Oriented Wireless Sensor Networks”. To secure IIoT, different approaches are introduced where the PUF chips along with the Bloom filter are used in challenge-response pairs and to ensure security in the physical layer along with low computational and communication overheads. During this pre-process continuous authentication mechanism between the gateway and cloud servers is introduced. From various formal and informal analyses, the suggested mechanism is superior with different features.
