Suzhou: Lessons in Economic Integration, Cultural Preservation, and Green Urbanism
摘要
Suzhou is a city of lasting significance in eastern China because of its colourful past. Over two millennia have seen Suzhou, which is tucked away along the Yangtze River's lower reaches, function as a hub of culture and commerce (Liu, Human settlement, inhabitation, and travel environment studies in water-net region. In The trialism and application of human settlement, inhabitation and travel environment studies: Applications in water-net region (pp. 269–344). Singapore: Springer Nature Singapore, 2023). Suzhou, long known for its elaborate gardens (Gao, ‘Breaking and Repairing’: Conflicting Values in the Historic Gardens of China, 2010; Xu, A cluster analysis comparison of classical Chinese gardens with modern Chinese gardens, Michigan State University, East Lansing, 2015), calm canals, and silk manufacturing, has had a lasting impact on China’s cultural legacy as a center of the arts and crafts.
