Research on UHF Sensing Technology for Transformer Active Protection in Partial Discharge Location Method

With the development of high voltage technology and intelligent sensing technology, it is possible to realize the active protection of transformer before the internal defects of transformer develop to fault. Partial discharge in the transformer will cause various changes in the internal environment. Active protection requires monitoring and distinguishing the characteristic parameter signals of the occurrence and development of early defects. The ultra-high frequency method has considerable advantages in fault location. This paper focuses on the propagation characteristics of UHF electromagnetic waves excited by discharge defects, and proposes a discharge defect location technology suitable for transformer active protection. The feasibility is verified by simulation and experiment.
