DC Breakdown Properties and Crystalline Structure of LDPE and XLPE After Heat Treatment
摘要
Heat treatment is one of the most important methods to modulate the structure and properties of polyolefin materials. In order to study the cable insulation materials, heat treatment was carried out on LDPE and XLPE in this paper to establish the structure-property relationship. LDPE and XLPE were heat-treated at 180 ℃ for 3 and 6 days. The FTIR, DC breakdown, scanning electron microscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry were used to analyze the effect of heat treatment. The experimental results show that the DC breakdown strength of LDPE declined and the breakdown strength of XLPE showed no significant change after the heat treatment, and their shape parameters of the Weibull distribution of the DC breakdown strength decreased. The heat treatment makes the spherical crystals of LDPE enlarge and the lamellar crystals of XLPE change. The distribution of spherical crystal size of LDPE and XLPE gets uneven. The crystalline structure of LDPE and XLPE was changed by heat treatment, and based on this, a correlation between crystalline structure and DC breakdown characteristics was established.
