The risks of postharvest diseases have not only resulted in huge losses in the global agricultural economy but have also led to the spread of fungal and bacterial toxins in the fruits that humans eat, causing serious diseases that lead to death. Chemical pesticides are common for controlling most diseases, but these pesticides became not effective and affect human health. It is widely recognized as a significant obstacle to ensuring adequate food supply for the increasing global population. Nevertheless, a significant portion of the population continues to rely on chemical fungicides in order to mitigate postharvest losses. However, it is important to note that these fungicides have adverse effects on food quality and can lead to the accumulation of pesticide residues, which in turn constitute a risk to both human health and the surrounding environment. In recent years, there has been a surge in researchers’ endeavors to discover biopesticides. Fungal endophytes have become a cost-effective and sustainable method for safely and effectively controlling postharvest infections. Thus, the objective of this chapter is to discuss the use of endophytic fungi to control postharvest diseases of grapes. Additionally, it intends to analyze the patterns of diversity and distribution of endophytic cells in grapes.
