Biocontrol of Blight Diseases Using Endophytic Fungi

Agriculture is greatly affected by blight diseases, which cause devastating losses in crop productivity and quality. The destructive nature of blight diseases can have considerable negative economic effects on farmers and agricultural production systems. To reduce these losses and preserve food security, research must establish efficient blight diseases management approaches. Biocontrol products are useful for controlling the blight diseases. Endophytic fungi have an amazing capacity to colonize plants and form symbiotic relationships with them, making them a desirable alternative to conventional pesticides in agricultural settings. In this chapter, we’ll concentrate on the role of endophyte fungi and discuss their effectiveness as biocontrol agents against blight diseases. The difficulties posed by strain selection, host specificity, formulation, treatment, and environmental considerations will also be covered. High-throughput screening tools, such as molecular methods, can help us understand the mechanisms driving endophytic fungi. Thus the use of endophytic fungi as biocontrol agents for blight diseases is a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to crop protection.
