Power supply for the electromagnetic launch requires a super-large pulse power supply (high voltage,ultra-large amplitude pulse current and sufficient power). In this paper,A new electrical device is first proposed, which is called “iso-supercapacitor-battery”, for short “iso-SC-battery”, and which is essentially a lithium battery, with extremely high rate of charge and discharge characteristics (continuous discharge rate between 100 C and 300 C, charge rate between 20 C and 30 C, energy density is about 10 times that of supercapacitors). The feasibility and advantages of replacing “lithium batteries + supercapacitors” with iso-SC-batteries are confirmed by engineering examples. Also based on the iso-SC-batteries, energy storage system power supply for electromagnetic launch is designed, instead of the “lithium batteries + supercapacitors” structure of energy storage power supply, with fast charging, fast discharging, simple structure, simple electric control, simple topology and greatly reducing volume and weight of the power supply, effectively improving the efficiency of electromagnetic launch.
