摘要

The pursuit of innovative solutions assumes heightened importance in the face of the escalating environmental challenges of our era. Notably, blockchain technology has garnered recent attention and holds the potential to catalyze an upswing in environmental preservation efforts. Blockchain technology, as an emerging breakthrough, exhibits the capacity to potentially revolutionize several sectors, including environmental protection (Tapscott and Tapscott 2016). Its decentralized and transparent nature instills promise for enhancing trust, accountability, and efficacy within environmental programs. Despite its nascent stage, the concept of employing blockchain for environmental safeguarding has garnered considerable attention from scholars, policymakers, and environmental advocates alike (Dinh et al. 2020; Caldeira et al. 2019). Blockchain, as a potent decentralized ledger, facilitates the establishment of immutable records that assure the integrity and traceability of environmental data. This, in turn, addresses concerns surrounding legitimacy and trust, pivotal elements in the development of successful conservation initiatives (Carlson et al. 2018). Our planet faces a monumental environmental crisis, characterized by the devastation of ecosystems due to climate change, biodiversity loss, deforestation, and pollution, posing grave threats to both the natural world and humanity (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 2021a, b; Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) 2019a). Evidently, the scientific community underscores the imperative need for swift, concerted action to mitigate the adverse impacts of these issues. In this context, blockchain technology commands the spotlight.
