Modeling and Simulation of a Hybrid Energy Storage System for DC Microgrid

In this paper, specific modeling and simulation are presented for the ASB-M10-144-530 PV panel for DC microgrid applications. This is an effective solution to integrate a hybrid energy storage system (HESS) and renewable energy sources to improve the stability and reliability of the DC microgrid and minimize power losses. As a power density-based energy storage device, the SC (supercapacitor) can provide rapid power response for either charge or discharge within a few milliseconds to a second. The DC microgrid model with HESS was built with MATLAB/Simulink, and the analysis of the SC performance for power fluctuation was simulated and analyzed. The results show that the proposed modeling and simulation are effective and robust against various scenarios.
