Promoting the Integration of AI-Based Tools in Education Through ICT Foundations

Despite successful experiences integrating AI tools into education globally, implementing AI-based tools in many countries has presented challenges, often resulting in uncontrolled educational settings and disorganization. This situation is largely attributed to ICT skills gaps and the rushed and unregulated integration of AI-based tools. Therefore, concerted efforts are urgently needed to refine and improve their implementation. This article aims to offer a holistic view of effective methods and practices to enhance AI's role in education, building upon the successes of integrating ICT. Initially, we present a comprehensive perspective on the utilization of ICT in education, drawing from a synthesis of our experiences and existing literature. Subsequently, we demonstrate how our proposed framework for ICT integration in education paves the way for optimal AI-based tools integration.
