An Effective Wireless Power Transfer System for Electric Vehicles: A Compression Analysis

Wireless power transfer is an advancing technology for charging electric devices without physical connections. It offers simplicity, freedom from cables, high efficiency, and quick charging. Wireless power transfer contributes to reducing pollutants and carbon dioxide emissions from conventional vehicles. Electric vehicle power transfer efficiency, energy transfer range, and dependence on bulky, low-energy-density batteries are among the challenges associated with wireless power transfer. Dynamic wireless power transfer, eliminating the need for batteries, addresses these limitations by decreasing charging time. This chapter focuses on explaining wireless power transfer fundamentals, discussing tuning topologies for reduced inductance leakage, and simulating their output characteristics in MATLAB/SIMULINK software. The efficiency of power transfer depends on the type of connection of compensation capacitors to the inductances of primary and secondary coils. In fact, the efficiency for series-series connection obtained is around 80%, which is more accurate than remaining configurations.
