Energy Truck: A Sustainable Mobile Energy Medium for Community-Based Renewable Energy Exchange

The increased installation and utilization of renewable energy resources in the residential sector has given rise to several research works on community-based energy exchanges. However, implementations of energy-sharing methods remain sparse in the existing literature. We propose a solution in which prosumers in a community could sell their excess green energy to an energy truck (E-Truck), and they could also buy green energy from the truck for a reduced price, minimizing grid dependency. We have developed a methodology through which each house provides information on their excess/deficit energy to the E-Truck. Based on the house nearest to the truck with the highest energy excess/deficit requirement, the truck chooses the house for trading energy. To ensure the accuracy and transparency of the trading system, all green energy generated by the prosumers could be verified through blockchain and IoT devices. This information would also be provided to the E-Truck. The created energy trading network would monetize the E-Truck service provider and users participating in the trading. The end goal is for users to be actively involved in installing more green energy resources to become self-sufficient and to engage in energy trading through services like E-Truck.
