Large Eddy Simulation by Using Wang’s Liutex-Based Subgrid Model

摘要

In 2018, Liu et al. introduced Liutex, a groundbreaking physical quantity, offering scalar, vector, and tensor forms that revolutionized turbulent flow characterization. Expanding on this, our research delves into the potential of Liutex to enhance Large Eddy Simulation (LES) techniques by using Wang's Liutex-based subgrid-scale (SGS) model. Leveraging high-performance computing, we conduct several numerical simulations to evaluate Wang’s model efficacy and accuracy. Implemented within LES, the model bridges resolved and unresolved motions, particularly in representing small-scale features. Testing on coarse grid LES and quantitative assessments of vortex characteristics show Wang’s Liutex-based-model greatly improves the LES results. The study further explores Liutex's application in transitional flow regimes, contributing to advancements in turbulence research. Ultimately, our findings underscore Liutex's significance in advancing turbulent flow simulations, promising improved predictive SGS models for wider applications.
