Digital Transformation and the IoT Project Selection System

In the context of the rapid development of Industry 4.0, technologies, and the transition to the data economy, a constant systematic study of the digital transformation strategy of each enterprise is necessary. It is also important to analyze and optimize the digital transformation projects portfolio in order to achieve strategic business goals. Limited resources and constant changes in the context of the external and internal environment of the enterprise dictate the necessity to select the most effective projects in the company's digital transformation portfolio and develop tools for the digital transformation project management system. The digital transformation projects products and services are based on Industry 4.0 technologies (Internet of Things, Big Data, and others). The purpose of the research is to develop tools to support the process of strategic management of digital transformation projects within the portfolio. The result is the development of a digital transformation project selection process, which is integrated into the methodological support of the enterprise's project office to organize the management of the digital transformation projects portfolio. The selection procedure includes a mechanism for choosing an approach (flexible, classical, and hybrid) in the management of digital transformation projects. IoT projects that form the digital infrastructure of enterprises have been selected as digital transformation projects. The leading scientific methods underlying the solution of the problem are a systematic and expert method of analysis that allows us to identify the problems and trends in the development of the management system and digital infrastructure of enterprises. The results of the study can be applied to manage the digital transformation of enterprises and the transition to the concept of smart manufacturing based on Industry 4.0 technologies. The developed models and tools are recommended to be used to increase the smartness of enterprises, the effectiveness of the formation of digital infrastructure, and an intelligent management system.
