Recently, the urban population has grown rapidly, with more than 60% of people living in cities. The sudden urban growth has led to a need for better urban planning and migration to ensure better opportunities for all. Smart cities emerged as a solution for urban problems to the challenges of limited resources and space in urban areas. By utilizing advanced technologies, smart cities can provide a high quality of life in terms of mobility, economy, environment, people, living, and government. This paper explains the people dimension as the communities living in smart cities are crucial to the city’s success and efficiency. It is important to analyze the social attributes of smart cities to understand their sustainability and innovation performance fully. Therefore, analyzing smart cities and their social attributes is important to understand their social sustainability and innovation performance fully. The research followed un investigative qualitative methodology by collecting, reviewing, and analyzing the literature of smart cities’ social attributes.
