Contingency Assessment in Power System Having Wind Energy Resource Integration with IEEE 14 Bus System
摘要
Contingency evaluation plays a crucial role in assessing and mitigating potential disruptions across various systems. This study enhances our understanding of critical variables and their impact, aiming to develop strategies to minimize adverse effects. Using an IEEE 14 bus system integrated with wind power generation, we conducted comprehensive contingency evaluations to assess system performance and reliability under different scenarios. By simulating diverse contingencies, we analyzed their potential impacts on system stability, security, and overall operation. Performance indices accurately predicted significant line contingencies, identifying critical scenarios likely to exceed system thresholds. Our focus included post-contingency studies on key system factors such as MW flows and bus voltages, aiming to enhance rating and contingency selection processes. Specifically, the performance indixes for (PIp & PIv) active power and reactive power were evaluated, and an overall performance index (OPI) was derived using the DC power flow method. The study identified the line between buses 9 and 14 as particularly sensitive to contingency issues within the examined 14 bus system.
