Examining Cultivation Policies for Normal University Student in the United States
摘要
This chapter explores the cultivation policies for normal university students in America. The United States, as a powerful education country, has changed the training mode of normal university students since its establishment. The oriented normal education system and non-oriented normal education system, which is referred to as an independent normal education system, coexisted for more than half a century before the Second World War. Then, the United States gradually abolished the independent system and began to cultivate normal university students through comprehensive universities and colleges of arts and sciences. Since the 1980s, the education reform in the United States has put forward high requirements on the quality of teachers, and the quality of candidates for normal university has attracted the attention of the country. Since the establishment of formal teacher education institutions in the beginning of the last century, the United States has attached great importance to the educational practice of normal university students for over a century. It has always been a difficult problem on how to cultivate the practical teaching ability of normal university students. It is a very important way to improve the classroom teaching ability of normal university students through their self-evaluation. For example, the self-evaluation system of classroom teaching in Queens College of the City University of New York includes several parts: evaluation concept, evaluation model, evaluation scale, evaluation method, and operating tools. In addition, American normal university students have pre-service teacher training institutions and courses, and the selection is also unique. American colleges and universities generally require applicants to have a high school diploma, high school transcripts, a recommendation letter from a teacher or principal, and scholastic aptitude test scores when they admit new students. To some extent, it can be said that normal university students choose their own education major.
