Examining the Cultivation Policies for Normal University Students in South Korea

This chapter explores the cultivation policies for normal university students in South Korea. The development of teacher education in South Korea is one of the results of the government's emphasis on the development of education. Teacher education in South Korea presents a diversified pattern of both public and private education, which changes from the pursuit of quantity growth to the emphasis on improving quality and develops toward high-level teacher education starting from undergraduate education. In the development of teacher education in South Korea, there are obvious features, namely strict teacher qualification certification system and diversified teachers’ in-service training system. Attaching importance to and strengthening teacher education research is the objective requirement of educational reform, innovation, and reconstruction.
