A Single Stage Non Isolated Charger Approach for Electric Vehicle Charging
摘要
In this paper, a standalone charger for light electric car batteries is suggested. The proposed charging scheme is implemented using non isolated single-ended primary inductance converter (SEPIC). The proposed charger, in contrast to traditional chargers, complies with regulatory agencies’ defined power quality standards, such as IEC-61000–3-2 PQ standard. The proposed charger has a better efficiency as compared to the existing charger. The suggested non isolated converter has a continuous conduction mode of operation (CCM). As the converter used is non-isolated, it reduces the number of components required for the charger. Leakage inductance of the transformer causes high spike on the active switch and has lower conversion efficiency, which can be avoided using non-isolated converter and higher conversion efficiency can be achieved. Additionally, a wide range of source voltage fluctuations are taken into consideration when designing and developing the charger. Battery is rated at 48 V/100 Ah and the charging process of a battery, is based on CC(Constant Current) and CV(Constant Voltage) method of charging. The suggested charger is modelled in MATLAB. This converter's performance is determined to be satisfactory under steady-state and abrupt input voltage transients.
