Problem posing (PP) could be defined in mathematics as “the process by which, on the basis of mathematical experience, students construct personal interpretations of concrete situations and formulate them as meaningful mathematical problems” (Stoyanova and Ellerton in Proceedings of the 19th annual conference of the Technology in Mathematics Education, 1996, p. 1). The PP activities have been used in research and practice at school mathematics and teacher education programs in the past few decades. However, less attention has been paid to this type of activity at the university level to improve mathematics teaching and learning.

摘要

Problem posing (PP) could be defined in mathematics as “the process by which, on the basis of mathematical experience, students construct personal interpretations of concrete situations and formulate them as meaningful mathematical problems” (Stoyanova and Ellerton in Proceedings of the 19th annual conference of the Technology in Mathematics Education, 1996, p. 1). The PP activities have been used in research and practice at school mathematics and teacher education programs in the past few decades. However, less attention has been paid to this type of activity at the university level to improve mathematics teaching and learning.
