In the seventh report of the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV), small plant viruses with multicomponent ssDNA were classified under the genus Nanovirus (van Regenmortel et al. 2000). These viruses, along with babuviruses, are found in tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, Australia, Europe, and Africa. The family Nanoviridae includes two genera: Nanovirus and Babuvirus.
