The new plant virus family Solemoviridae was established in 2018, including two previously unclassified genera Sobemovirus and Polemovirus. In 2021, the ICTV abolished the family Luteoviridae and moved the genera Polerovirus and Enamovirus under the family Solemoviridae. In addition, the genus Hubsclerovirus has lately been added to accommodate fungal viruses sharing close genetic relationships with sobemoviruses.
