Taxonomy of Family: Chrysoviridae
摘要
The family Chrysoviridae was initially established by Professor Said A. Ghabrial, who sequenced the first chrysovirus in 2000 and whose name was given to the order Ghabrivirales. The family Chrysoviridae accommodates viruses isometric in shape, non-enveloped, and containing linear double-stranded (ds) RNA segments as their genomes (Kotta-Loizou et al. 2020). The genomic segments vary in number between three to seven and are individually encapsidated. The total genome size varies from 8.9 kbp to 16.0 kbp. There are currently 31 officially recognized species in the family Chrysoviridae (www.ictv.global). Chrysoviruses infect mainly fungi, but some of them have been isolated from plants and insects (Covelli et al. 2004; Li et al. 2013; Zhang et al. 2017; Peyambari et al. 2019). This chapter focuses on members of the family Chrysoviridae that are associated with plants.
