Comparison of Recent Helicobacter pylori Guidelines
摘要
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) can cause peptic ulcer disease and gastric cancer. H. pylori is present in more than half of the world’s population, and the overall seroprevalence of H. pylori infection is 51.0% in South Korea. Recently, a paradigm shift regarding H. pylori has occurred. First, the Kyoto consensus report designated H. pylori gastritis as an infectious disease. H. pylori gastritis is now a nosological entity in the new International Classification of Disease 11th Revision (ICD 11). The recent Maastricht VI consensus stated H. pylori infection always causes gastritis, irrespective of symptoms or complications. It also stated that H. pylori is a gastric pathogen and H. pylori gastritis is an infectious disease. The indication for treatment is no longer reserved for patients with clinical manifestations of infection; treatment is required in all H. pylori-infected patients.
