Palliative Care in Cancer
摘要
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines “Palliative Care as an approach that improves the quality of life of patients (adults and children) and their families who are facing life-threatening illnesses” [1]. This field or specialty has its roots in the concept of holistic care for a patient and its caregivers. Palliative Care(PC) by definition finds its application in all branches of medicine dealing with chronic illnesses which negatively affect the quality of life of patients and their caregivers. However, this specialty has originated and has its roots in the oncological setting providing care for chronically ill cancer patients.
