Introduction to Cancer World
摘要
Cancer might seem like our modern-day illness, but people have been getting cancer for thousands of years. We know this because people in ancient history wrote about cancer. The word ‘cancer’ was first used by Hippocrates, the Greek physician, considered as the ‘Father of Medicine’. He used the Greek word ‘carcinos’ when he wrote about tumours. This Greek word means a ‘crab’ because Hippocrates thought the insides of the tumours looked like crabs (crayfish).
