The Development and Practice of Psychodrama in Education in Taiwan

  • Nien-Hwa Lai

摘要

Originally developed by Moreno, sociometry, sociodrama and psychodrama are broadly used in the educational settings in Taiwan. The areas of applications ranged from kindergartens, elementary schools, and middle schools in primary education as well as universities and graduate schools in tertiary education. The methods of practice are also diverse and include: (1) Psychotherapy for individual and group counseling; (2) teaching in class for guidance work and subjects such as Chinese, English, history, and economy; (3) advocacy: Promotion and advocacy for issues such as bullying, life education, and dating violence; (4) meetings such as class management, parent-teaching meetings; and (5) cross-disciplinary dialogs such as the cultural awareness and understanding on families of new immigrants and the understanding for students with physical and mental disabilities in inclusive education. Some even combined the educational concepts in psychodramatic theaters with courses in the department of economics, to train lecturers to implement in their teaching. We hope to share with other countries/areas our experiences using psychodrama in the educational settings in Taiwan and brainstorm more on the practice and reflections about psychodrama.
